Who we are and what we do

We are a small, but mighty team of 3. With the help of 40 volunteers who also believe in our mission, we make sure no trans person faces the world alone or hopeless.

TACT (Trans Advocacy and Care Team) is the only virtual network of support that provides free, confidential peer counseling, support groups, and resource navigation for trans people across the U.S.

We believe that if trans people have peer support and access to essential resources, then they can bring forth a world where everyone is free and thrive.

As trans folks ourselves, we strive to rewrite the narrative anti-trans extremists have pushed on the public and reassure our fellow trans peers that being trans is beautiful—that trans joy and excellence is possible during our lifetime. 

Why this moment matters

This is a moment of crisis for trans communities across the U.S. Anti-trans rhetoric and policies are rapidly growing every day, and especially in the South and Midwest, where the safety and well-being of our communities is further jeopardized.

We have gotten flooded with intakes from our trans siblings scattered across the country looking for peer support in any way—support that affirms them that their existence is not only valid, but celebrated. Cherished even. 

More trans people than ever are turning to us for support, but because our grant funding has fallen short this year, we have not had the resources we need to take in the 100+ of trans folks submitting requests to join our trans support groups and 1-on-1 peer counseling program. 

Did you know?  Nonprofits serving transgender communities only receive 3¢ out of every $100 granted by all U.S. foundations.

Here's the truth: individual donations have been the biggest contribution to how TACT has continued to be a sanctuary for trans adults since 2021.

What we've done so far

1,500+ trans, nonbinary, and gender expansive adults supported. 44 out of 50 states reached. 290+ hours of trans-focused support groups. 500+ hours of 1-on-1 peer counseling sessions. 40 volunteers of Gender Advocates and Peer Group Facilitators who have delivered life-affirming care. 14 community events to foster connection and belonging.
