Training: Know Your Rights when dealing with ICE

Every person in the US - regardless of immigration status - possesses constitutional rights. ICE agents are regularly breaking the law and violating the rights of those they abduct. Come learn about your rights, how to defend them, and protect your neighbors.

Come to learn about your Constitutional rights, due process, and how to exercise them when confronted by ICE agents in your community, your workplace, in your car or at your home. The training will be provided by Brian Rawson, co-founder of Action Corps and a San Francisco Bay Area based trainer. Brian has organized and led Know Your Rights trainings this year at UC Berkeley, the La Peña Cultural Center and for labor unions, teachers, and general community members. Unlike many webinar trainings on this topic, this training will include interactive group participation because it's important to not just learn about these skills but to practice them until they become a habit.

When is the training? Wednesday, December 10 at 4:30pm Pacific / 6:30pm Central / 7:30pm Eastern Time. The duration is 90 minutes.

Where will it be? It will be held on Zoom so that anybody can attend from their computer or smartphone. (Download Zoom here)

How do I join? Click here to register for the training. You will be emailed a link to join the training. Expect that in your inbox at least one day before the training.

What will the training cover? The training will cover constitutional rights and what to do when ICE shows up at your door, your car, your workplace and your community spaces. It will include links to resources that communities are using now to monitor ICE activity and defend their neighbors. It will include Q&A. Participants will be given the opportunity to practice speaking the phrases used to assert your rights.

Will it be recorded? This is a live event that will not be recorded. We encourage people to attend live because we believe interactive training is the most effective way to learn, ask questions, and connect with other supporters.
