At Social Good Fund, we believe every young adult deserves the opportunity to discover their strengths, build confidence, and pursue meaningful work. Yet for many neurodivergent young adults, especially those on the autism spectrum, the path to employment is filled with barriers long before they ever step into an interview.

Across the country, young adults with autism experience the lowest employment rates of any disability group. When they age out of the school system at 18, many face what families call the “services cliff”, the sudden loss of structured guidance, support, and opportunity. Too often, talented young people are overlooked not because they lack ability, but because traditional employment systems were never designed with their needs in mind.

That’s why Future Steps of Autism Program is creating something different.

Through our sensory-informed vocational model, we empower neurodivergent youth by focusing on the individual before the job placement. We begin with “Discovery”, a personalized process that helps each young adult uncover their strengths, interests, communication styles, and career goals. Instead of forcing them to fit into a system, we build a pathway around who they are.

Our program guides participants through four transformational stages: Setup, Discovery, Growth, and Launch. Along the way, youth gain practical experience, develop resumes and professional portfolios, strengthen workplace readiness skills, and build the confidence to take ownership of their professional identity.

This isn’t just about finding a job. It’s about creating sustainable employment, fostering corporate inclusion, and helping young adults thrive in environments where they are valued for their unique perspectives and talents.
