We are asking for your support in helping us raise money to support the next "Family Time" Event, A Family Tea. The Family Tea is the cumulating event for the Family Time Family Communication Workshop at San Quentin Rehabilitation Center. The Tea will bring together 16 families for a day of connection, love, and normalization.
The effects of last year's Family Time Event were powerful:
One mother who attended the event shared: “My daughter had her senior prom already, and her dad wasn’t able to be there. But this event made up for it in so many ways—the red carpet reunion, the slow dance, the letters, the TikTok dance, the awards. We talked about it for weeks. Our entire family was blessed by that day. It was unforgettable.”
One family member brought her niece to the event. “After this experience I’m 100% sure that those men want to be next to their daughters not just at visiting but at home. Also for my niece this experience was incredible for her. She’s really eager for that time for her dad to get home and she makes sure she reminds him every time they speak of that day and how they will travel around the world. The experience was amazing for my niece and my brother and thank you so much for that day!”
Another family member wrote: “Just seeing the fathers and daughters together—how hard it was to say goodbye, but how much love they shared—it reminded me these men want more than visits. They want to come home, to be present.”
A mother whose son will be returning home shared: “We often feel forgotten. But your event reminded me our loved ones still have purpose and potential. This gave me hope for my son’s return.”
Professionals who contributed were equally moved. A partner organization leader shared: “Prom was beyond expectations. You’re changing the narrative. I’m honored to have worked with The People in Blue.”
A photographer, who documented the prom, wrote: “I’m still in awe. This was one of the most meaningful events I’ve ever been a part of. Just beautiful. I hope what The People in Blue created becomes available to all people on the inside.”
