Holidays in Little Eagle 2026

This holiday season, Friends of Little Eagle is preparing gifts for 240 infants, children and youth, ages 0–18, in the Little Eagle community on the Standing Rock Reservation.

Our holiday programs have grown over the years, but the idea is still pretty simple: we work with our friends in Little Eagle to make sure there is something for everyone—from a brand-new baby to a graduating senior.

This year, we’re collecting learning games for children and youth, personal hygiene and self-care items for teens, coloring books and other surprises for children of all ages. We’ll also be purchasing gloves, winter coats and hoodies as the cold South Dakota winter approaches.

And, thanks to the extraordinary response to our Books for Backpacks campaign, we’ve already set aside books by Native authors for our holiday gift bags.

Your Gift Helps Us Finish the Shopping

Financial contributions give us the flexibility to purchase exactly what is still needed, fill in the gaps and buy larger items like coats and hoodies that aren’t practical to collect or ship from California.

Whether you give $25, $50, $100 or more, your gift becomes part of a community-wide effort involving friends in Little Eagle, volunteers in California, local businesses, churches, booksellers and donors across the country.
