Black-led organizations have always done the work with the least. The research is clear and the pattern is old: Black-led nonprofits are funded at lower rates than their white-led counterparts, run on smaller budgets, and are trusted with far less unrestricted money to actually build with. We're asked to prove ourselves twice and paid half as much for it. Meanwhile the healing our communities need can't wait on a grant cycle or a gatekeeper's yes.

So this is our push to get our money back. Not from a foundation. From us, for us.
