Every day, cancer patients pack their bags and leave home to find the care that is not available where they live.

For many of them, getting the best possible treatment means traveling hundreds of miles to a specialized cancer center. And research consistently shows that patients who reach those high-volume centers have better outcomes. More effective treatment. Better survival rates. More time.

But the journey to get there comes with a second set of costs that insurance rarely covers.

Travel. Lodging. Meals. Childcare. Time away from work and from the people they love.

For patients already navigating one of the hardest experiences of their lives, those costs can quietly become the reason they choose the hospital that is closer instead of the one that is better. When financial barriers determine which doctor a patient can reach, they can also determine how many years that patient has with their family.

That is not a choice anyone should have to make.

Bridge the Distance Fund was founded to change that.

We provide need-based financial assistance to adult cancer patients facing financial hardship who must travel significant distances for specialized treatment, covering the transportation and lodging costs that insurance leaves behind. We are starting in the Mid-South, but the need exists everywhere, and so does our vision.

We are here. We are ready. And we have one goal standing between us and our first patients.

We need to raise $10,000.

When we reach that milestone, we open our grant application process and begin helping real patients. A plane ticket for the patient who cannot afford to fly. A hotel room for the family sleeping in their car between treatments. A fighting chance for the person who has been told the best care is out of reach.

Every dollar you give moves us closer to opening our doors. A gift of $100 helps cover a night of lodging. $250 contributes to a round-trip flight. $1,000 could fund an entire patient's travel for a treatment cycle.
