ABOUT RISE & LEAD MOMS

Hi, I’m Agatha Altarovici, founder of Rise & Lead Moms — a nonprofit project fiscally sponsored by Social Good born from years of showing up, burning out, and finally finding a better way.

For years, I poured myself into helping others:
- Volunteering with Moms Demand Action 
- Supporting local organizations like Good Shepherd Shelter or Downtown Women Center
- Serving on my School PTO board
- Creating a Tenant Association from scratch in a 250 unit community building and fighting for tenant rights 
- Supporting the winning electoral campaign for Tie Gutierrez for City Council – Thousand Oaks District 5

I did it all while working full-time and raising my kids.
I was a Social Impact Mom driven by purpose and passion but I felt drained and burned out.

Why Social Impact Moms Feel The Drain More Deeply

The empty feeling that so many mothers experience isn’t a sign of weakness or failure — it’s a natural outcome of how deeply we’re wired to nurture. Motherhood often trains us to overextend: to anticipate others’ needs before our own, to give endlessly without replenishing. We are emotional anchors, caretakers, advocates, and peacemakers — roles that require constant energy and presence.

But here’s the paradox: the more we give without refueling, the more disconnected we become from ourselves. The very instincts that make us loving and dependable can also lead to depletion. Unlike others who can retreat after giving, mothers are often on call 24/7 — physically, mentally, and emotionally.

That’s why mothers need to refuel more than others, not less. We carry multiple emotional loads — our own and those of the people we love. Refueling isn’t indulgent; it’s essential. It’s how we restore the clarity, creativity, and compassion that make our nurturing sustainable and joyful, rather than exhausting.

The Turning Point: Finding Coaching & Community

Coaching and community didn’t just help me recharge — they reminded me who I was.
I stopped equating leadership with overextension and started defining it through purpose, clarity, and the courage to seek support.

That shift changed everything. 

➡️ From a long career in entertainment & marketing to working full-time in the nonprofit world
➡️ From growing my own leadership through coaching, to becoming trained and certified to offer that same support to others.
➡️ From following leaders' passions to finding my fire and starting my own organization
➡️ From volunteering in tenant rights to being hired and trusted to lead in that space
➡️ From admiring women like Shannon Watts from afar to collaborating with her & her team and leading Bonfire Thousand Oaks (creating more spaces for women’s leadership locally)

Why Rise & Lead Moms Exists

Because I know what it’s like to give everything — your time, your energy, your heart — and still feel like it’s never enough or that you're doing it alone.

Rise & Lead Moms exists to change that.
We help mothers driving change — in nonprofits, advocacy, and community life — get the tools, coaching, and confidence to rise as leaders without burning out.

Our first cohort includes incredible women like Heather H., co-founder of 805 Speakeasy, who’s creating brave spaces for dialogue and kindness right here in Thousand Oaks.
This November, your support will fund Heather’s leadership coaching — helping her lay a strong foundation for a new project that empowers youth in her community.

We’re building an online space where moms across the U.S. can access coaching tools, community, and leadership circles designed just for them.
