On June 19, 2025, our dear friend Brian “Bam” Markle collapsed from sudden cardiac arrest while playing beach volleyball in Santa Monica.
Despite fast action from friends and bystanders, there was no AED (Automated External Defibrillator) close enough to reach him in time.
He passed away a few days later.
Bam was strong, caring, and the heart of our beach community. His passing revealed something simple but devastating:
help was just 100 yards too far away.
That moment sparked Project BAM — our commitment to making AEDs accessible wherever people gather to play, connect, and live.
Sponsor a Device. Save a Life.
We’ve been gifted 11 Philips HeartStart AEDs by our friends at EOS Fitness.
These are powerful, life-saving tools — but before they can be deployed, each needs new batteries, fresh electrode pads, and professional inspection to ensure they’re ready for emergency use.
Once restored, these AEDs will be donated to trusted community leaders — volleyball coaches, fitness trainers, and organizers who can make the difference between tragedy and survival.
Your Donation in Action
💛 $250 → replacement pads
💛 $350 → new battery pack
💛 $600 → full refurbishment for one AED
💛 $1,000 → fully restores and deploys an AED with training support
Every contribution moves one step closer to placing a ready-to-use AED in the hands of someone who can save a life.
Where They’ll Go
These AEDs will serve communities in:
-
Santa Monica’s beach and sports programs
-
Brentwood and Venice recreation areas
-
Local senior and fitness centers
Each device will be matched with a trained community leader and a specific location — so every sponsor knows their gift’s exact impact.
Accountability & Partnership
Project BAM is fiscally sponsored by Social Good Fund, a registered 501(c)(3).
Your donation is tax-deductible and goes directly toward refurbishing and deploying AEDs and CPR training programs.
We’re also organizing free community CPR/AED trainings so that people don’t just have access to AEDs — they know how to use them.
Join the Mission
Bam’s story reminds us how fragile — and how connected — life truly is.
By sponsoring an AED, you’re not just restoring a device.
You’re restoring hope, readiness, and the power to save someone’s best friend.
💛 Sponsor a device. Share this campaign. Save a life.
Golf Fundraiser
We’re Hitting the Green for a Lifesaving Cause!
This Friday, October 31 , Project BAM is honored to participate in the Hensel Phelps Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Maderas Golf Club in Poway, California .
We’ll be sharing our mission — inspired by our friend Brian “Bam” Markle — to make sure AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) are accessible wherever people gather to play, connect, and live.
This year’s tournament gives us an incredible opportunity to raise awareness and support for our current initiative:
💛 Restoring 11 donated Philips HeartStart AEDs to full functionality so they can be deployed into the community — each one ready to save a life.
How You Can Help
-
Sponsor a Device — $1,000 restores and deploys one AED to a community leader or organization.
-
Contribute what you can — every dollar helps purchase batteries, pads, and inspection services.
-
Spread the word — share our campaign with others who care about community safety.
Together, we’re turning a day on the golf course into something truly meaningful — saving lives in Bam’s memory.
