Person to person conversation is the most essential ingredient for social change. Yet in a moment where change is more urgently needed than ever we are losing the ability to talk to each other.
Whether we hope to listen to and learn from others, move people to action, cross divides, or change deep-seated attitudes, we need to re-learn a set of skills that our families, communities and movements have lost.
Our team at the New Conversation Institute helped develop deep canvassing, in the LGBT rights movement, to confront a similar moment in our history. It has since been found to be the most impactful form of person to person outreach ever studied.
The Deep Canvass Institute exists to make the tools learned from this field of work accessible to all. We have trained thousands so far. With your support we can train many more people and then help them have the real conversations that will carry us someplace new.
