Homies Helping Homies (HHH) is a collective mutual aid initiative with the simple goal of improving the quality of life of the communities we serve in Point Breeze Philadelphia and beyond. We strongly believe that by alleviating the stress of procuring essential everyday items and battling food apartheid and gentrification, we can empower our communities to assist one another and change the current practices that continue to keep people impoverished.

Our long-term vision of social justice is one that we’ve been working on since the organization’s inception: a self-sufficient entity where the community is served by the community. We believe that providing food, necessities, and knowledge is an anti-violence initiative. HHH is committed to helping people get out of survival mode, so that they control their own lives, rather than being at the mercy of the oppressive systems that keep people in poverty. Anti-violence is having healthy food options and giving resources for education so that people can provide for their families. Anti-violence is funding the groups on the ground who are doing what needs to be done and making sure they can continue their work. Anti-violence is harm reduction and recovery. We, as a group, have created this space by applying these principles to immediate actions and have been successful in our actions, but we can only do so much without the proper support.
