The African Intelligence Club (AI Club) is a student-led initiative dedicated to expanding access to artificial intelligence, competitive programming, and advanced computer science education for African and other underrepresented students. Its mission is to democratize high-level technical training by teaching algorithms, data structures, and advanced problem-solving skills that prepare students for national computing Olympiads and global competitions such as the IOI.

The AI Club played a pivotal role in restarting Ghana’s National Olympiad in Informatics, rebuilding the training infrastructure, recruiting mentors, and preparing students after years of inactivity. That effort led to Ghana’s team traveling to Bolivia in August 2025 for a historic return to the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) after a 14-year absence. Now, in August 2026, we are preparing to send students to Uzbekistan for this year’s IOI, building on that momentum and demonstrating that Ghana’s presence on the global stage is not a one-time milestone, but the beginning of sustained excellence.

Beyond individual achievements, the club’s broader goal is not just to teach coding, but to build long-term AI capacity, increase global representation, and create sustainable pathways for talented students to compete internationally and contribute to technological development in their home countries.
